Dan Kramer joined UVA as the director of the International Studies Office in August 2025. As ISO director, he oversees Education Abroad, the International Students & Scholars Program, the Lorna Sundberg International Center, and the Center for American English Language & Culture. He spoke with UVA about his transition to Grounds from his previous role as director of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, his admiration for UVA's mission to be "great and good," and his dreams for the future of international education at UVA.

Rachel Mulvaney is a fourth-year student, double-majoring in global development studies and public policy & leadership. From the start of her time at UVA, she knew she was interested in international development. This passion brought her to pursue a J-term education abroad course at The Black Power Station in South Africa, as well as a semester abroad in Argentina that shifted her perspective on international relations.

Jill Landefeld is a 2004 College alumna with degrees in foreign affairs and Spanish. She participated in the UVA in Valencia program and later returned to Spain to earn a bilingual MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. She began her career in financial services in New York City, working in investor relations for a hedge fund. Following her MBA graduation, she moved to London to accept an offer with Barclays in public sector banking and debt capital markets.

The Democratic Futures Project hosted the Resisting Illegal Government Detentions and Hostage-Taking (RIGHT) Coalition meeting at UVA’s Fairfax campus on September 17th, 2025.  The DFP’s involvement in this project emerged from DFP fellow and Global Studies faculty member Felix Maradiaga’s efforts to promote international advocacy and cooperation to prevent and deter the use of arbitrary detention against democratic advocates working in authoritarian regimes.
