You were born in Canada, but you have connections to Africa. Tell us about your background.
Giliomee: I was born in Saskatchewan, Canada as my mother was practicing medicine there at the time. My mother is from Namibia, where my grandfather worked as a fisherman. I grew up on a farm in South Africa, which allowed me to immerse myself in agricultural practices from a young age. Growing up on the farm, surrounded by the lush landscapes of South Africa, instilled in me a deep appreciation for nature and outdoor activities, laying the foundation for my future interests and endeavors.
And let's not forget about our zebra named Tatjana! Tatjana arrived on our farm about 8 years ago, a lost zebra wandering along the river until she came across our herd of sheep. She decided to stay with this herd, and as of today, she acts as a guardian for the sheep, protecting them from predators such as honey badgers. Tatjana's presence on our farm not only brought joy and fascination but also taught me valuable lessons about the interconnectedness of nature and the importance of adapting to new environments.
