Straddling Activism and Academia: My Experience in the LGBTIQ+ Movement in Indonesia

The East Asia Center is honored to be hosting Dede Oetomo for a special Coughlin lecture on Southeast Asia, wherein he'll discuss "Straddling Activism & Academia: My Experience in the LQBTIQ+ Movement in Indonesia." Oetomo is founder and trustee of the Gaya Nusantara Foundation and an active member of the Asia-Pacific Council of AIDS Service Organisations. He is an Ashoka Fellow and was a recipient of the Felipa de Souza award in 1998, as well as author of Beginning Indonesian through Self Instruction. 


The lecture will be held online Tuesday, April 18, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. EST
