The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at UVA is hosting a day of student debates examining key questions on the future of democracy. The event is in partnership with Unum, a student-led nonprofit dedicated to promoting civil debate among and within colleges and universities. Each 50-minute debate features two teams of two graduate students from eight policy schools across the country. This is the latest in an ongoing series of debate summits organized by Unum in collaboration with schools of public policy.

Debate 1: 2 - 3 p.m.

Debate 2: 3 - 4 p.m.

Debate 3: 4 - 5 p.m.

Prior to the debates, at 1 p.m. in the Great Hall, we'll be joined by journalist and two-time champion debater Bo Seo for a session titled "How to Disagree Better," followed by a book signing; his visit is being sponsored by UVA's Think Again initiative. (Separate registration required)

These events are part of Democracy360, a three-day exploration of democracy from every angle. The Student Debate sessions are hosted and produced by the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, and Unum. The Atlantic is the official media partner of Democracy360.
