The Diversifying Scholarship Research Conference at the University of Virginia will advance the commitment of the university to inclusivity by addressing several critical needs in higher education--namely, expanding scholarship focused on socially marginalized communities, reducing inequality, and alleviating the effects of discrimination. This event will highlight the diverse research being done across grounds in the arts, social and physical sciences, humanities, education, and beyond.

We seek to promote connections among undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty from different disciplines, fostering a commitment to inclusive research, pedagogy, and collaborative problem solving on social issues. Diverse interdisciplinary networks, in turn, have the potential to enhance scholarship and create new opportunities for collaboration. Moreover, we hope that deepening the institution-wide commitment to inclusivity will further extend the impact of academic work on social justice issues beyond the university community and advance our collective mission to recruit and retain diverse students and faculty.

We invite students, faculty, staff, and community members to register and/or submit an abstract to present at this year's conference, which will be held online on April 21, 2023. Registration is free.

This year, presentation opportunities include Blitz Talks (5 minutes) and Research Presentations (10-12 minutes).
