UVA Nursing students are taking the lead in educating by creating a day dedicated to celebrating their ethnic backgrounds and being proud of their non-American accents. They aim to normalize being an English speaker with it being their second language. The students want to give a platform to ESL students on Grounds to showcase their pride in their backgrounds. In addition, there will be an Instagram takeover on October 25th to talk about their language, what it means, their country’s traditions, and what having an accent means to them.
There will also be free ethnic food in front of the McLeod building.
This is a Student CIO event.
