Going Global

There are multiple pathways for going abroad while - and sometimes after - you're a student at UVA. Check out the units and resources below for more.

Education Abroad

For first and second years especially, know that it's never too early to start thinking about education abroad. On the Education Abroad website, you'll find information about programs, academic and other important considerations, how to apply and prepare, and more. Looking for a first step? Take the Education Abroad Workshop, available on the homepage.

Getting a Passport

Planning ahead, and need to obtain or renew a U.S. Passport? The U.S. Department of State website is the definitive source for information about the process, including what you'll need to apply, how to submit your application, and estimated processing times, as well as updates on passport operations around the country.

The second button below is to the locator search; there are multiple acceptance facilities in the greater Charlottesville area for applicants who must submit in-person.

This year, Global Week is hosting its own event to help students, faculty, staff, and their families get a passport! Check out the third button for information about the Passport Drive.
