We gather as a group to promote MEDLIFE at UVA as a group that partners with low-income communities in Latin America and Africa to improve access to medicine, education, and community development projects. During Power Hour, we aim to empower students to advocate for change by fostering community within our own chapter, volunteering locally around Charlottesville and internationally on Service Learning Trips (SLT’s occur yearly, each time to a different country, and take place during Spring break. This year, we will be traveling to Antigua, Guatemala). The outreach that we accomplish during our Moving Mountains campaign contributes greatly to our international patient care, community development projects, and educational workshops for communities in need across the globe. For this event, we encourage CIO members to reach out to as many people as possible to support our mission – the goal of the event is to promote our cause and invite as many people as we can to join us in our international service. Food and drink are provided, as well as entertainment such as group activities and challenges.
